Iceland is a leading British company specialized in the frozen food industry. It was founded in 1970 by Malcolm Walker. He opened up a store selling loose frozen food, in Oswestry (Shropshire). In 1978, Iceland developed its own branded products displayed in fridges and freezers. Iceland expanded through the acquisition of smaller chains and established more stores. By 1989, Iceland was a national chain with 465 stores. It went public in 1996. Nowadays, Iceland is represented in UK with 850 stores, selling frozen, chilled, ambient and fresh vegetable products. In addition, it is exporting to Czech Republic, Southern Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Iceland frozen range is distributed in Cyprus by Laikocosmos, to specific retailers. LC provides a wide range of frozen potatoes, vegetable, pizzas, poultry, sea-food, ready-made meals, desserts and ice-cream.
